DOCTOR WHO – THE COMPLETE FIRST SERIES DVD BOX SET – SUSPENDED
By Steve Manfred
In November of last year, BBC Worldwide Americas announced plans to release the DVD box set of the entire 2005 season of Doctor Who starring Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper in the United States in addition to Canada on February 14, 2006, for the suggested retail price of $99.98 (US).
Normally, after that initial announcement, BBC WA and Warner would make a detailed announcement to the trade of their plans, and do so well in advance of the release date. They have not yet done so, and if they are to do a release on Feb. 14, they would have to make that trade announcement at least 30 days in advance of it. Working in part from my report on this topic yesterday, the website TV Shows On DVD made their own enquiries and are now reporting that they have contacted the BBC and found that there are “complications” with the box set, and the February 14 release date will be missed. They have also contacted Warner Canada, and though Warner Canada have not heard officially on this yet, they are expecting the same delay there as well.

Could the delay be because we’re getting the series in March on SciFi? Press release here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/scifi.shtml
