Kirk To Return In Mirror Trek?

December 14, 2005 By S. K. Sloan Leave a Comment

The Canmag.com Web site reported a rumor that William Shatner is one of the former Star Trek captains who would appear in a proposed new Trek movie set in the “mirror” universe. Citing an anonymous source, the site reported that a script is floating around for a proposed new movie that would bring together Shatner’s Capt. James T. Kirk, Patrick Stewart’s Capt. Jean-Luc Picard and possibly Scott Bakula’s Capt. Jonathan Archer. The movie would be a prequel film set in the evil parallel universe first introduced in the original Star Trek episode “Mirror, Mirror” and last seen in the Star Trek: Enterprise two-part episode “In a Mirror, Darkly.”

Shatner was rumored to be up for a guest role in the last season of Enterprise, which ended in May, but never appeared. The site reported that the proposed film might incorporate elements of that episode as well.

Officially, Paramount has made no announcements about a future Trek movie of any kind, and cast and crew members have repeatedly said on the record that they know of no plans for a further installment in the venerable movie franchise.

Here are two entries from Canmag.com on the STAR TREK Prequel Rumors (Only time will tell if it’s just idle chat or the real deal):

Rumor #1

For all of you Trekkies out there, you could possibly have some great news heading your way. Though I cannot claim to be a Star Trek nut myself, I have dreamed of becoming a Jedi though, the latest scoops sent in have been enough to gain my full attention.

Star Trek: The Beginning or Star Trek: Academy

My two favorite Star Trek films were Wrath of Khan and The Voyage Home. Khan had the awesome music, which was later used again in Aliens, and Voyage Home featured some of the best Trekky humor [Spock was hilarious!]. Since I spend very little time in front of a television set unless for Halo 2, LOST or American Idol, I cannot say too much about the multiple Star Trek television series out there. However, I cannot help to feel at least a little gitty when I received a scoop that claimed that Paramount was moving forward with another Star Trek movie.

While checking through the emails about a week ago I had received this latest report from ‘The Manageress’, claiming that Paramount was working to create Star Trek: Academy.

Paramount are in the early stages of development of another “Star Trek” movie. This one will be set at the Starfleet Academy, and, in some ways, will be a prequel to “Enterprise” ( the character of T’Pol (Jolene Blalock) is the only one from that series that supposed to be in it).

One person they’re considering for Star Trek : Academy is David Boreanaz, of Angel, fame. I don’t know the connection between the creative team and Boreanaz, but he’s a name that we keep hearing (and I’m positive this is a feature film – not a TV series). When/if such an opportunity arises, I would be happy to let you know what the latest is. I believe it’s a long ways off still.

Rumor #2

Hey all you Trekkies out there, there may be yet another reason to keep the conventions going. A while back we had reported on a rumor that Paramount Pictures was considering, or working on, getting together another Star Trek film. In our report we mentioned that the film would be a prequel to the original series and would be titled something like Star Trek: Academy. The character T’Pol (Jolene Blalock) was repeatedly suggested to star in the next film.

However, now we have received another rumor from ‘milo’ who claims that not all of the details were entirely correct.

New Star Trek Rumors:

According to ‘milo’ we can forget about T’Pol and all the young actors unless Paramount decides to mix some old drafts of the script with the new. Here is the report sent over on Star Trek below:

Long Time Reader, First Time Writer, Blahdey, Blah, Blah….

I just worked as a stuntman on a film called “Honor”, by David Worth, starring Jason Barry and Roddy Piper. TV actress Linda Park was also in the film. She was in the TV show “Enterprise” playing Hoshi Sato.

Have I got some gossip for you? Potentially, ‘encouraging’ gossip. I was reading on a few sites that the plan for the next Star Trek movie is to do it as a prequel with young Starfleet commanders. I don’t know if that’s true, or was true, but it’s not anymore. The latest is that the new film is more of a sequel than anything else. SO WHATEVER YOU’VE BEEN READING OR REPORTING – FORGET IT. IT’S ALL CHANGED.
