TREK PULSE Shuts Down

November 16, 2005 By S. K. Sloan 6 Comments

Trek Pulse announced yesterday it was shutting down for good. While somewhat surprising, I was not totally shocked by the news. With less and less new TREK information available for discussion we will probably see more sites dedicated to the venerable series go on lock-down. The flagship STARTREK.COM will still be around forever, but more of the offshoot and one-topic sites will be going by the wayside. They will be missed, because it is always good to have a variety of sources for TREK information and not just one site controlled by the studio.

Below is a copy of TREK PULSE’s farewell letter to its internet fans:

All Good Things…

It is with deep regret that I announce today the closure of TrekPulse.com. This decision was certainly not an easy one to make but in light of recent events and lack of support I feel that this is necessary.

Certain factors have always made the operation of this website that much harder and less achievable. Among these are the high costs involved in running the site, the huge amount of time involved, the new server technical problems, the unnecessary politics involved in daily operations and last but not least the ever increasing and recent legal/copyright warnings and restrictions which make running a website based on Star Trek much more difficult and perilous.

I wish to extend my never ending thanks to the TrekPulse Staff for their dedication and support since the launch of TrekPulse and The Mess Hall before it.

Live Long and Prosper,
Rob, Annie, Adam

Trek core is flurinshing like it has never flurished before and everything about gays if faulse! go to the omega sector yourself! you cant deny the facts! if you go there yorself you will see that we are trying to put together a wonderful Star Trek Website!!

    NOTE from Sam:

What Me1000 and Commodore Mac are referring to is a libelous and inappropriate comment made from a poster concerning this article about Trek Pulse. I did not approve of the offending comment, but the automatic system kicked it in before I had a chance to review it, as I do almost all comments sent to us. But, if I am unable to get to them by a certain time the auto kicks in and it gets posted and sometimes they slip through the cracks. What the original poster said was very inappropriate and I have since removed it.

TrekCore.com and The Omega Sector are great, stop by for your self and check it out. Don’t believe everything you hear. Check it out first hand, and come to your own inclusions. We are still working on the Trek Core Site adding things every week if not every day. And it is way better than what trek Pulse had (no offense).

And the TheOmegaSector which is the BBS is great. The people are nice and there is always something going on.

So come on by and check us out. And give me a shout when you come in.

I’ve read the previous comments and have to say that treksnore has went down hill. The Mysterious Stranger, did indeed work for both sites and did everything he could to make the site fun and interesting, especially the TOS section.

    [inappropriate comment censored]

Perhaps his comments didn’t seem politically correct, but the content was right on.

There is nothing new there, except for an abundance of caps. They still have his threads up and the fact is, he drew more viewers than any other staff member and was constantly trying to improve the site.

He did all of the exclusives, interviews, tributes, and most of the interesting threads, throughout the BBS. He also created the modeling forum, which has since been abandonded by the modelers and deleted by the staff.

The hard truth is he was banned for not accepting the gay agenda and for not towing the PC line.

He advertised the site all over the web in many different venues, in an attempt to increase traffic to the site, but was met with nothing but contempt by his fellow staff members.

    [inappropriate comment censored].

They still use his interviews, tributes and exclusives…. I think that speaks for itself.

What has happened to trekpulse, is happening to treksnore.

It’s unfortunate that the very people who profess IDIC, have no tolerance for an oppinion that differs from their own.

NOTE from Sam (SoSF Producer & Managing News Editor)—-

Our problem with the person’s comments were their libelous nature. SoSF is not a place for those with a grudge against someone or a group to take it out here. That person needs to direct his/her comments directly to the folks involved and not use a story we did about Trek Pulse’s demise as a springboard for inappropriate comments and libelous speech. We are simply reporting a news story. The comment section, while it may be used for editorial or even personal comment on the stories by our readers and listeners, is not a place to vent on others using language that teeters on possible litigation, which did occur in this case and that is why those comments were removed, as were some of yours, this was done as much for the originator of them as it was for our own fans.
