The SGC and the SGA will be busy again for another season.
Stargate: SG-1 will begin an unprecedented 10th Season on The Sci-Fi Channel in Summer 2006. Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks and Beau Bridges will be returning to save the Earth from alien incursions. I love this show and as long as the writing stays fresh and exciting, it can go on forever in my book.
Stargate: Atlantis is also returning for its 3rd Season. While I really enjoy this program, they are going to have to come up with something more than the Wraith to hold my interest for another whole season. If not, then it becomes nothing more than a rip-off, spin-off of SG-1 and why watch? I hope they take more time to investigate the strange new world of the ancients they already inhabit instead of going “off-world” all the time. It would seem to me that the grandeous city of Atlantis itself should hold enough adventure and intrique all its own to satisfy the eager traveler’s curiosity and drive for exploration. I mean, afterall for God’s sake, it’s Atlantis! Isn’t anyone just a tad curious about the place? I know I am.
For trivia buffs:
Stargate: SG-1 is now the longest running sci-fi program in U.S. television history, eclipsing The X-Files record of 9 Seasons.
The longest continuous running sci-fi program worldwide would be the U.K.’s Doctor Who which ran new shows of various lengths for 26 consecutive years from 1963 until 1989.
WRONG!!!
Dr Who ran uninterrupted for 26 yrs!!!
It may be the longest running AMERICAN sci-fi show but its not the longest!
Sorry Dude, correction was posted before your comments got online. I forgot to put U.S. on the original news posting, so when I corrected it I also included the STATS on ole’ Doc Who as well.
I really hope Stargate: SG-1 runs as long or at least over 10 seasons, all my favourite tv shows have cut off before 10 seasons and it’s kind of annoying, especially with cliffhangers like Buffy’s ‘What do we do now?’ i want to know what they did after the destruction of Sunnydale. And Angel’s fight against the Black Thorne or whatever they were, did they die?.
As long as they keep Michael Shanks in the series as a regular i don’t care how long they run, and i’d like to see more of Jack too.
It’s so unfair when really good Sci Fi’s finish, okay Dr. Who was scary in it’s day, but it’s the cheapest Sci Fi ever made and it manages to beat all the other sci fi’s?
All my other favourite programmes have finished (barring Dark Angel/CSI:Miami)
Farscape
Angel
Buffy
X-files
The best TV shows on earth
and what’s with these spin offs?
Angel was rubbish after Cordelia died, i loved the brother/sister banter between Wes and Cordy.
Wes went all Ripper like?
To quote Bart Simpson: “Stargate: Atlantis both sucks and blows”
