This television viewing season has been a ratings boom for Sci-Fi fans, and it looks like things won’t be changing anytime soon.
Shaun Cassidy’s “Invasion” gets the green light for a full season (By-the-way: He’s calling it science fiction now—duh!). “LOST” is still ABC’s Number One show and entries from CBS (Threshold) and NBC (Surface) are holding their own enough to guarantee a full season run. SCi-Fi Channels’s “Ghost Hunters” and CBS’ “The Ghost Whisperer” are both keeping network execs at both studios very happy. The only fly in the ointment? “Night Stalker” is probably heading for the cutting room floor.
On the “what’s coming up” ticker; it has been announced that NBC has given approval for an eight episode committment to its new supernatural thriller “Book of Daniel,”… and are you ready for this? Variety is reporting that Harvey and Bob Weinstein’s new multimedia entity the Weinstein Co. is in final talks with Barbara Schneeweiss to develop a TV show based on the Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City big screen feature.
If it happens, the Sin City TV series will follow 2006’s sequel to Rodriguez’s 2005 movie, based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel series.
One comment: If this becomes a reality you can bet it will be on cable — if it stays true to Miller’s vision.
