Kyle Nin, our most prolific reporter has some juicy news nuggets for your information hungry synapsis.

#1:

Jon Favreau (Zathura) has been tapped to helm the anticipated film adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burrough’s classic, “John Carter of Mars.” Kerry Conran (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow) was originally slated to direct but has decided to pursue other projects.

Must be some really appealing event to pull him off this high-profile flick.

#2:

Tom Cruise’s third “Mission Impossible” flick will be released on May 5th, 2006.

Look for some real cool stuff in this one.

#3:

Director Uwe Boll’s new movie “In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Adventure” is toning it down a bit in order to get that coveted money-winner PG-13 rating. Boll claims that the $60 million dollar price-tag is just too big of a risk to go for his usual R-rating.

Comon’ dude, get some cajones!

#4:

“Kardia” wins the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation’s $25,000 Sloan Feature Film Prize for 2005. The purpose of the award is to honor those films which best reflect the exploration of science and technology themes in an entertaining yet realistic and innovative way. Kardia centers on a character named Hope who, as a child, undergoes a heart surgical procedure which mysteriously links her to the donor’s past. As an adult Hope must revist her own past and in the process finds the real heart of humanity.

Not sure how this ties in real science and technology, but….

#5: And finally,

The Weinstein boys may take on the remake of the John Carpenter, Jamie Lee Curtis cult horror classic Halloween.

After over 20 years of worsening sequels haven’t we all seen enough of Michael?
