Lucasfilm, Ltd. has hired Joshua Katz as head of marketing. Katz, a TV executive with experience in cable networking, will hold the title of Vice President of Marketing.
Katz will will be in charge of all of Lucasfilm’s global marketing. This area of the production giant includes its games market, as well as, the upcoming feature “Indiana Jones IV,” and the 30th anniversaries of Industrial Light & Magic and “Star Wars” for the year 2007.
However, Katz confirmed that this appointment is really an important part of Lucas’ overall strategy to switch most of the company’s endeavors to TV production. In Variety, Katz parrotted recent remarks by George Lucas and stated, “We have to stop being just a movie studio and have to move to being a television and movie studio.”
