“The Celestine Prophecy” on Celluloid

June 10, 2005 By S. K. Sloan Leave a Comment

Matthew Settle (Into the West & Rancid) will be starring in the big-screen adaptation of the James Redfield novel “The Celestine Prophecy.”

Settle will star as John Woodson, a seeker who explores the Peruvian rain forest in search of an ancient, secret manuscript.

The prophetical manuscript is rumored to contain nine spiritual insights that promise an emergence of a new age of spirituality.

Intrigue and adventure ensues as Woodson is hunted down by government soldiers, mercenaries, fanatical priests and religious zealots, as well as other researchers trying to reach the same prize.

As the story unfolds Woodson begins to discover within himself the meaning of the nine insights of The Celestine Prophecy.

Also starring with Settle in the film, which is due out later this year, are:

Thomas Kretschmann (The Piano),
Sarah Wayne Callies (Tarzan TV series),
Annabeth Gish (X-Files & Desert Bloom),
Hector Elizando (Veteran actor of stage and screen),
Joaquim DeAlmeida (Clear and Present Danger),
Obba Babatunde (The Manchurian Candidate) and,
Jurgen Prochnow (Das Boot & Dune)

Directed by: Armand Mastroianni (Robin Cook’s: Invasion)

Screenplay by: James Redfield (Original Author)
Barnet Bain (What Dreams May Come & Dark Planet)
