“STAR TREK Has to Be The Highest Pinnacle And A Great Gift To Be A Part Of It.”

May 7, 2005 By S. K. Sloan Leave a Comment

Chase Masterson interviews former Star Trek: DS9 castmate and veteran character actor Rene Auberjonois (Odo) on theFandom.com. Some of Mr. Auberjonois impressive credits include; M*A*S*H (The Movie), Little Mermaid, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and the TV sitcom Benson. His most recent critically acclaimed role is on the ABC drama Boston Legal opposite the number one Star Trek legend William Shatner.

Mr. Auberjonois comes from a long line of talented people in the arts and at a very early age was surrounded by such theatrical legends as Lerner and Lowe, and the great John Houseman. He has appeared in over 104 films in his respected career.

In the interview Chase and Rene discuss everything from his days on the Broadway stage, the joy of doing mask work, to the laborious daily process of becoming Odo, in which Rene reveals that he was not originally what Pillar was looking for in the Odo character, but five auditions later Pillar and Berman came to realize that only Auberjonois was right for the part.

Apart from his long and successful acting career Mr. Auberjonois also works as a benefactor for Doctor’s Without Borders.

On May 16th look for Chase’s next interview with one of my favorite actors and, in my opinion, one of the greatest Star Trek characters, George Takei (Captain Hikaru Sulu).
