About Us

Slice of SciFi originally began as the voice of the SAVE ENTERPRISE campaign of Spring 2005, when loyal Star Trek fans rallied to the cause of saving a cancelled “Star Trek: Enterprise” series, and garner it a previously highly-anticipated 5th season. When that campaign fell on deaf Paramount ears, despite its success in generating fan support and unprecedented fan funding, Slice of SciFi continued to support the Star Trek fan base that had provided its starting point, but branched out into the wider arena of science fiction, fantasy and horror media: television, film, comics, and new media such as fan films, audio dramas, online animated comics and more.

The show was so popular, and garnered so much fan feedback that eventually, it was necessary to spin off the Voicemail Show, dedicated just to fan feedback, in order to keep the original show from consistently hitting running times of 90 minutes or more! Both Slice of SciFi and its companion Voicemail Show have been fan favorites, appealing to SF media geeks of all ages.

Interviews with today’s top stars and genre professionals, such as Ira Steven Behr, Walter Koenig, Jim Butcher, Samuel L. Jackson, Katee Sackhoff and an array of other fan favorites in genre entertainment, always range from fun and insightful.

In December 2005, Slice of SciFi made the jump to broadcast, finding an additional home on XM Satellite Radio, Channel 163, and bringing the show to a broad new fan base at the same time. In December 2007 Slice of SciFi became part of the growing Sirius Satellite Radio family of programming with the merger of Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio. In 2011, the Sirius-XM Radio merger consolidated and realigned many channels. Slice of SciFi moved to Channel 80 on both services and remained a listener favorite until the end of 2013, when Sirius-XM replaced the entire programming slate for Channel 80.

The audio version of Slice of SciFi continued on an intermittent schedule between October 2013-June 2014 on Krypton Radio, iTunes and the Slice of SciFi website, while the video version continued to be presented at Slice of SciFi TV.

In Fall 2014, Slice of SciFi changed shape and form once again. Going back to a weekly program featuring either interviews with talent from all across the scifi entertainment worlds or discussions about TV shows, movies, or whatever most scifi geeks want to talk about, the show currently features a more cozy environment with its sole host, Summer Brooks, and a variety of special guests for the miscellaneous talk episodes.

The Slice of SciFi website also features movie, television, and media tie-in book reviews, plus opinion and commentary articles about various geek-centric topics and ideas from online entertainment, television and film, in science, technology, space exploration, and more.
