It’s taken over a decade but Browncoats will finally get their wish in January when the second season of Firefly debuts.
It won’t be on TV. Instead it will be on the pages of Dark Horse Comics.
The publisher revealed at the recent New York Comic Con that a new post-Serenity Firefly comic book will launch on January 29, 2014.
According to Comic Book Resources, the second season opens with the surviving crew dealing with the fallout of Serenity.
“With River Tam in the co-pilot chair and a very pregnant Zoe reeling from the death of her husband, Wash, Mal is finding himself and his ship in greater danger than ever,” Dark Horse says in a release.
The comic will feature artwork by Buffy artist Georges Jeanty. Details on who is writing the series are being kept under wraps.
When I was drawing Buffy, I could start from scratch,” Jeanty tells CBR. “Sure, I had to keep in-line with how the characters looked, but everything [else] was up for grabs. Sunnydale was destroyed, so I didn’t have to keep in-line with the architecture. With [Serenity], there are seven characters and a ship to consider. When they’re on Serenity — fans know what every inch of that ship looks like, so I have to be very meticulous with my depiction.”

Very pregnant Zoe? Ugh. Yes, I know, we saw that in the comic Patton Oswald did, but it such a tired storyline.
Summer Brooks says
Methinks someone wanted to throw a bone to all the fans who lost their minds when Wash was killed.
Sam Sloan says
I’ll be in line for these, that is if Amazon.com had a line.
