Actress Laura Ramsey has signed on to play the lead role in the television adaptation of The Sixth Gun.
The graphic novel is being developed as a pilot for NBC, according to Deadline. The pilot is produced by Carlton Cuse and will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner, who has directed multiple genre series and pilots. The script comes from Ryan Condal.
The Sixth Gun is a supernatural Western which follows the story of six mythical guns, each with its own other-worldly powers. When the Sixth Gun, the most powerful and dangerous of the group, resurfaces in the hands of an innocent girl, a farmer’s daughter named Becky Montcrief (Ramsey), dark forces reawaken. Vile men, long thought dead, set their sights on retrieving the gun and killing Becky.
Ramsey joins W. Earl Brown, Graham McTavish and Aldis Hodge in the pilot.
Brown will play General Oliander Hume, an undead, foul mouthed, brilliant Confederate War General that has been imprisoned for 18 years in a magical coffin. McTavish will play Silas Hedgepeth, wielder of the Fourth Gun and General Hume’s most Loyal Lieutenant. Hodge plays Agent Mercer, a PI looking for the missing guns.
Ramsey has been seen in The Ruins and had a guest role on Mad Men.
