666 Park Avenue and Last Resort have been given an order for two more scripts by ABC. While it’s not a renewal, ABC is showing a bit of faith in two freshmen series.
It could be that the network wants to see what the writers would do with those episodes and then make a decision about each show’s long term future on ABC.
Neither has set the ratings on fire, though Last Resort is in a hugely competitive time slot. Creator Shawn Ryan says that ABC is pleased with the show creatively.
“Everyone would always like to have the No. 1 show on TV. Instead, we’re going against the No. 1 show on TV with Big Bang Theory. I think ABC acknowledges that we’re doing better than their previous shows in the time slot over the past few years, and they love the show creatively,” he says.
