When do Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman find time to sleep? They’ve penned scripts for the upcoming Star Trek sequel, were brought in for a Spider-Man sequel and now comes news they’re rebooting the Mummy and Van Helsing for Universal.
The two new projects are part of a development deal signed with Universal by the screen writing duo.
Last week, we told you that Universal wanted to revive the Mummy franchise, which only got a reboot a little over a decade ago. And Van Helsing proved you can throw a lot of money at a movie with it still being a disaster due to a bad script.
Interestingly, the Van Helsing reboot could bring in one of Hollywood’s big hitters–Mr. Scientology himself, Tom Cruise.
So, what do you think of the move? Is it too soon to reboot these franchises?
Indiana Jim says
A. Who says Van Helsing was bad?
B. Brendan Fraser as Rick McConnell is it, man.
