NBC is desperate for a hit. And with vampires and werewolves being all the rage these days, they’re looking back to a staple of syndication, The Munsters.
For those of you who may not recall, The Munsters ran two season and followed a family made up of a vampire, a werewolf and Frankenstein’s creation. Hilarity ensued and the show has lived on in syndication and as several TV movies over the years.
Now NBC is looking to bring it back.
And while that may not be the best news, we do have a ray of hope for this story. According to Zap2It, Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller has signed on to bring us a new version of The Munsters.

For the love of God make it stop. Battlestar Galactica was a blip on a very big radar. Knight Rider. Bionic Woman. Charlies Angels. All bombs. The Wonder Woman pilot never made it to air. How has this become the state of Movies and Television? With NBC’s track record this poor show doesn’t even stand a chance.

Original ideas are hard to come by and risky. Rehashing old ideas looks like the safer route to them. Maybe they should take more risks. Or maybe instead of copying a name, recycle an old idea but just give it a new name.
How about this, don’t try to make a hit. Aim lower and just make a good show that will have a steadier, if smaller, audience.

Or, ask Bryan Fuller to bring back Pushing Daisies, which was an amazingly interesting and creative show.

This is what happens when people don’t read.
Especially people who get jobs in Network Television.
First we had people who were re-making stuff they watched when they were kids.
Now we’re getting people who saw old TV shows on Nick at Night…or maybe never saw these shows at all…and are just looking at lists of titles.
I wonder when they’re going to announce a re-make of “My Mother The Car”?

But updated to “My Mother The Flying Car.”

Isn’t this at least the third reboot of Munsters? There was one with John Schuck back in the late 80s.
