Did you check out the trailer for Green Lantern? And were you less than impressed by it?
If so, you weren’t alone.
And now with a new trailer set to hit theaters with Thor, Warner Brothers worldwide marketing president, Sue Kroll is admitting the first trailer may not have been all it could or should have been.
“Part of the reason the response to the first trailer was lukewarm was that the big-scale sequences weren’t ready to show, and we suffered for it. … We can’t afford to do that again,” Kroll said at CinemaCon this week.
Warner Brothers underestimated the amount of time it’d take to complete the elaborate 3-D sequences for the film. Now they’ve got it all sorted and, according to their president of motion pictures, Jeff Robinov, their marketing plan is in place: “We won’t be in this position again.”
Christopher says
I was not impressed with the STAR more than anything. As much as Hollywood seems to disagree with the notion, I do not go to see a film solely based on the visual effect scenes.
meatball says
I agree with Christopher! The trailer is fine, Ryan Reynolds is the problem.
Ben Ragunton says
I agree with meatball. My problem is with Ryan Reynolds.
I was a huge Green Lantern fan in my youth so I understood who Hal Jordan was, and Ryan isn’t playing him right. He looks more like Guy Gardner (rebellious Green Lantern) and that is what turns me off.
Lejon from Chandler says
Now that I’ve stopped confusing the star with someone else, I can see him in the suit… Maybe not the role, but he’s got the look.
I will forgive his comedy roots if he can pull off the serious portions of this role.
Waiting.
