Durance Teases “Smallville” Developments

January 20, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

If you were expecting Clark and Lois to live happily ever after on “Smallville,” you may be in for a surprise.

Actress Erica Durance says that Lois may have second thoughts about her engagement to Clark Kent as the series heads towards its final episode.

“You’ll see a couple of moments where you think, oh God, is Lois going to run away again?” she tells Newsarama. “You know [she has a] fear of commitment. The more she realises how much she loves Clark, the more difficult it is to stay. She’s always looking for reasons to leave first.”

Durance added that the engagement will meet with the approval of Clark’s mother played by Annette O’Toole.

“[Lois is] given the thumps up,” she explained. “She gets in Martha what she doesn’t have, and that is this open relationship with a woman and a mother figure.”

“Smallville” returns next Friday on the CW.

I am finding this final season of Smallville very satisfying. However I need flights and tights now!
