“Lost” Finale Will Run Long

May 5, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

It wouldn’t be a season ending episode of “Lost” if it didn’t run a bit long.

ABC has shown patience with the show in the past, extending each season finale of the hit show in seasons’ past.  And now it appears that two hours won’t be enough to wrap up events on the mysterious island.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the finale of the show will run two and a half hours, from 9 p.m.  to 11:30 p.m. EST on May 23.

For those of you keeping track at home, that’s a Sunday evening.

The supersizing of the finale is the latest adjustment to what might as well be called “The ‘Lost’ Weekend.” ABC is airing an “enhanced” (pop-ups) version of the show’s original two-hour pilot on May 22. On Sunday there’s a two-hour retrospective titled “Lost: The Final Journey,” followed by the finale, then the local news and Kimmel post-show.

Wow, I will have to change up my DVR schedule because that will surely conflict with a lot of my programming,

I’m to the point where I just wish they would get it overwith. They have dropped so many interesting story lines and,in the end, seem to be heading for the cliche ending that I was afraid of ever since we heard of “Jakob” – gosh I hope I’m wrong – (anybody else remember “The Howling Man” from the 1960 Twilight Zone).

I’ve just got so much time invested that I have to watch it all the way to the end.

When the writers were at Dragon*Con a couple of years back, they absolutely promised that all the open threads would be tied up. Too bad.
