Every actor has his or her dream roles.

For Sam Worthington, one of them is Steve Rodgers, aka Captain America.

“As I said, I think I’d be lynched if I played the role, but I’d kill to play it,” Worthington tells MTV. “There’s a headline on the MTV blog: ‘Sam Worthington Would Kill To Play Captain America.'”

Worthington says he doesn’t think he’ll get a chance because he’s Australian and that too many fans would be unhappy if he got the role.

That still doesn’t mean he’d turn it down if it was offered to him.

“I’m a fan, mate. That’s what it really is,” Worthington said. “I ‘m a fan. I’m a fan of comics. I’m a fan of Captain America. I know they’re making the film — but this is my way of saying, ‘Go on and make it then, hurry up!'”

Worthington is currently starring in “Avatar” and was in this summer’s “Terminator: Salavation.”
