Looking forward to seeing Summer Glau on “Dollhouse”?
You may have to wait until December to see it.
EW’s Michael Ausiello reports that Fox has decided to bench the sophomore series for the upcoming November sweeps.
No word yet on what they might air in place of “Dollhouse” in the time slot.
Ausiello also reports that odds are “Dollhouse” won’t get a third season.
Fox has previously said they would air the entire season of the show. We’ll have more on this and the DVR numbers for the show on this week’s Slice of SciFi. You can tune in tonight for the live feed or catch the episode this weekend.
UPDATE: Ain’t It Cool News’ Hercules reports that Fox may air double shots of “Dollhouse” in December. Also, critics were sent out screeners of this week and next week’s episode. This week’s episode will air, but no word on if or when the next episode may air. It could air next Friday or we may have to wait until December.

At least this gives me a chance to watch new episodes of “Monk” during its first showing, instead of having to wait later to see them. (“Monk” is on at the same time as “Dollhouse” and “Sanctuary”.) That’s what I did last Friday.
There are just too many shows on Friday nights.

Now now, this isn’t news. Really. Remember this article?
http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/10/fox-we-will-air-all-13-dollhouse-episodes.html
If you read the whole article, it mentions that they will have to do something for sweeps because of Dollhouse’s numbers. They’re still a network that needs to produce ratings for a month when ratings matter most, and while Dollhouse’s numbers are slowly improving, not so near enough to make them “considerable” for November sweeps.
Fox gave us a second season that wasn’t planned, as well as a promise to air all 13 episodes. Considering the return they’ve been getting on Dollhouse, I’d consider that generous.
And FYI, I’m a huge fan of the show. And yes, it breaks my heart. But it’s just going to make me savor the last eps of the season in December that much more.

Well, better to preempt reruns of House and Bones for baseball than first-run Dollhouse, I suppose. ‘Cause as much as I love all three shows, there will still be new SGU and Sanctuary to watch in place of them. Not sure how I feel about the network burning through six episodes in three weeks, though. That kinda stinks of fatalism and I have no idea what they might be planning to put in its place once they run out of produced episodes. I realize that the Olympics are going to mess with all of the networks’ programming decisions in the winter, but this seems a bit extreme. :-\
