“Game of Thrones” Adds Cast Member

August 24, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

On this week’s Voice Mail show, Mike and Brian discussed the in-development pilot of George R.R. Martin’s best-selling fantasy novel, “A Game of Thrones.”

And while we don’t know yet when it will air, we can tell you another actor who is joining the cast for the HBO pilot.

According to Variety, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has joined the cast of the pilot. He will play Jaime Lannister, one of the king’s guards and a ruthless usurper of the previous king.

There’s also casting news for Daneyrs, who will be played by Tamzin Merchant.

Also new to the cast are Richard Madden as Stark’s eldest son, Robb; Iain Glen as Ser Jorah Mormont, a disgraced knight; Alfie Allen as Theon, Stark’s young ward; Sophie Turner as Stark’s eldest daughter, Sansa; and Maisie Williams as Stark’s young tomboy daughter, Arya.

HBO still has a few more roles to fill in the large ensemble cast of Thrones, one of the more buzzed-about titles on the network’s development slate.

They join actors Sean Bean as battle-weary Ned Stark, who leaves his home to serve the king, Mark Addy, Kit Harrington, Jennifer Ehle, Jack Gleeson, Peter Dinklage and Harry Lloyd in the upcoming pilot.

The pilot shoots in Ireland in October.

Jamie’s sister is not Daenerys but Cersei. Shame on you Michael.

Thanks for the correction. Sorry I got the characters a bit confused–but there are a lot of them in the novel.

And I’ve only read the first book in the series….
