SyFy VP Will Answer Questions Via Twitter

June 29, 2009 by Michael Hickerson   || Category: TV News

Got a question about SyFy for channel vice-president Craig Engler?

Thanks to the modern marvel of Twitter, you can ask Engler directly about the network’s programming or impending name change.  Engler has signed up for a Twitter account and promises that he will be interactive with fans and viewers of the cable outlet.

“Most networks out there are using Twitter strictly for promotional purposes,” Engler said in a statement. “We’re looking at it as a way give fans direct access to a network executive and at the same time provide them with a look at what goes on behind the scenes. We’ll also be talking about our shows both on the air and in production, sharing news and answering questions via a special hashtag, #syfyq.”

Hmm. Nice way to avoid answering the complex questions — limit your response to 140 characters or less. :)

The upside is that there isn’t enough space for the marketing double-speak. The downside is that it’s too easy to use vague answers.

What a bunch of B.S. Why change the name to something so stupid?

Come on folks it’s easy. Just have to be creative like this.
    First post: You
    Second: Are
    Third: All
    Fourth: Idiots

    Not a problem.

Are they backing off the logo change? It’s been months and still no change on air. They are not even promoting it like they did with Beyond ( which was so much better even if not trademark-able.)

The brand name change isn’t scheduled to happen until July 7th. So we have another week.

I wonder if there’s a collection of all the old SciFi Channel ads someplace… all the celebrity “I Am SciFi” ones were amusing.
