ABC Picks Up “Flash Forward”

May 11, 2009 by Michael Hickerson   || Category: TV News

For the past several weeks, ABC has been offering some strange commercials during new episodes of “Lost.”  The teasers are for the potential series, “Flash Forward,” which as we’ve previously reported is based on the novel by Robert J. Sawyer and  chronicles the aftermath of a global event in which everyone in the world blacks out for 2 minutes, 17 seconds and has mysterious visions of six months into the future.

With the promotional push given to the pilot, it was a good assumption that ABC would pick-up the series for next season.

ABC made it official Friday, picking up the series for 13-episode order according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Originally developed at HBO, which retains a piece of the backend, “Flash” landed at ABC after heated bidding with Fox. From the get-go, it has been considered compatible with the network’s hit “Lost” and a potential successor to the mystery drama, which is heading into its sixth and final season.

The order for “Flash” came hours after the network brass screened it to a strong reception.

Seems… interesting. Although I see that they must come up with ridiculous ideas such as these to keep viewers “entertained”.
