“Stargate: Universe” Casting Complete

February 25, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 6 Comments

The cast of the next installment of the “Stargate” franchise is set according to the Hollywood Reporter.  SciFi announced that Lou Diamond Phillips, Ming-Na, Elyse Levesque and Alaina Huffman have been cast in “Stargate: Universe.”

They join Robert Carlyle, Justin Louis, David Blue, Jamil Walker Smith and Brian J. Smith in the series.

Phillips  will play Col. Telford, a lifelong military man and the chosen leader of the ill-fated expedition.

Ming-Na will play Camile Wray, a human resources executive with the international oversight committee that governs the Stargate program.

Levesque (“Smallville”) will play Chloe Armstrong, the daughter and aide of a U.S. senator.

Huffman (“Smallville”) will play MSgt. Tamara Johansen, a field medic assigned to treat the seriously wounded.

Production on the series began last week in Vancouver.   The series is expected to debut in October.

When it was announced earlier in the year that Robert Carlye was headling the cast I immediately held out great hope for this series. Now with the addition of the likes of Lou Diamond Phillips as the mission commander and Ming Na (one of my favorite actresses) my expectation for a well-grounded series have been cemented.

You can’t go wrong with Lou Diamond Phillips but whats up with 2 colonels on the show? Power struggle anyone?

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Lou Diamond Phillips’ character will be dead by the end of the pilot…

I’m also thinking that Phillips’ character will only be in the pilot. They already stated that Colonel Young (Justin Louis) is the commanding officer on the Ancient ship and that HE is having a power struggle with Dr. Rush (Robert Carlyle).

In other articles, it’s been stated that Colonel Telford is the leader of the failed MISSION (not expedition). There’s a difference there. The action of going through the stargate to the Ancient ship (from what’s I’ve heard of the story) is not a mission, but rather an act of survival, because of some sort of an attack on the off-world base. From the description of Telford, I’m assuming that he’s the commander of that base, but he doesn’t go through the gate with the others. That doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll die, though. It just means that he’s not a main character.

But, I’m glad to hear he’s going to be on the show, anyway.

I dont now i really dont know, failed mission, lost, we should call it stargate voyager :D. They might be drifting from the main show too much, this will be verry different, its also going to be interesting how their going to run the show considering they cant develop any other races allies enimeis every show will have to stand alone to where there ship jumps. I wont judge tell i see the show thow.
