NBC has given the green light to a pilot episode of “Day One.” The series, created by “Heroes” producer Jesse Alexander, chronicles the aftermath of a global event that devastates the world’s infrastructures when a small band of survivors strive to rebuild society and unravel the mysteries of why the event took place and what the future has in store.
Alexander has also worked on “Lost” and “Alias.”
The commissioning of “Day One” could signal a trend in drama pilots for the fall. “Day One” is one of several futuristic dramas under consideration for the upcoming television season. Also in the running is “Flash Foward” based on the best-selling novel by Robert J. Sawyer.Â

Is it just me, or does this premise sound a lot like Jericho?

I was about to say exactly the same thing Gazer…

…or even that British series of many years ago called…Survivors

Geary……The British series Survivors (written by Terry Nation) has been remade and has not long completed it’s first season. It has been renewed for a second. Check out the BBC website for for details. I really enjoyed the first season and highly recommend it. As for “Day One” any post apocalyptic drama if it’s well done will always spark my interest.

I wonder why the term SCIFI, is always used for off beat programs of any kind? The concept sounds like a good program could come from it, but my need for a REAL SCIFI show will likely not be found in this kind of program. Maybe some new writers with very large imaginations will somehow be found to make some real SCIFI shows, but then the audience would be too small to be successful.
