Fans thirsting for answers on “Supernatural” are in for a treat this week and next says series creator Eric Kripke. Starting tonight at 9 p.m. EST and continuing next week is a pivotal, two-part story that centers on the on-going angel storyline and will provide fans with a lot of answers to questions about the on-going series arc.
On tonight and next week’s episodes, Sam and Dean will find themselves “directly in the middle of the battle between heaven and hell, … which is really fun to play this season,” Kripke told SciFi Wire.
Sam and Dean end up on the trail of this girl named Anna [Julie McNiven] who, for reasons I won’t reveal, is able to psychically hear angel conversations,” Kripke said. “‘She is able to [tune] into angel radio,’ is what we say. That makes her a very wanted and valuable person to the demons who would love to get some intel on what the other side is doing, as well as the angels who don’t like that they have such a big security leak.”
“So they’re trying to elude not just demons, but angels. The angels and demons are fighting each other, and it’s a really fun milieu of putting the boys right in the middle of this massive eternal battle,” Kripke said with a laugh. “How to get out of that alive becomes quite the challenge, because both sides are so, so powerful and dead set on retrieving this girl.”
Things only continue to heat up next week, Kripke revealed. In the second half of the story, “we bring to a head the fact that they’ve got these two different factions on their ass and how do they get out with their lives,” Kripke said. Also, “we finally do reveal exactly what happened to Dean in hell.”
Of course, learning these answers will come with a price for fans of the series. After next week, the series will be on hiatus until January.
