Hick’s Picks 48

October 23, 2008 By Michael Hickerson 1 Comment

Actress Teri Polo has signed on for the lead role in director Joe Dante’s upcoming “Hole,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Polo will play Susan, a mother who moves with her teen sons to a rural house where the three are forced to face their fears after discovering a bottomless hole in the basement.

Polo has also signed on to continue her recurring role on this season of the Jennifer Love Hewitt CBS series, “The Ghost Whisperer.”

Congratulations to former-“Buffy” stars Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof. People Magazine reports the couple is expecting their first child this spring.

The couple met while working on Joss Whedon’s “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.”  Hannigan can currently be seen on CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother.” No word yet on if her pregnancy will be worked into the series.

Congratulations are also in order for former “Doctor Who” companion Billie Piper and her husband Laurence Fox. The couple welcomed their first child, Winston James Fox, Tuesday.

According to reports both mother and baby are doing fine.

William Shatner has called out another celebrity on his official web-site. Last time it was J.J. Abrams for not including a cameo for Shatner in the upcoming “Star Trek” movie. Now it’s fellow “Trek” alum George Takai for not inviting Shatner to his wedding. Takai married his long-time partner Brad Alman last month.

In the latest video on WilliamShatner.com, Shatner said, “”The whole thing makes me feel badly. Poor man. There is such a sickness there. It’s so patently obvious that there is a psychosis there. I don’t know what his original thing about me was. I have no idea.”

In a statement, Takai said Shatner was invited but didn’t attend his wedding last month.

“It is unfortunate that Bill was unable to join us for our wedding as he indeed was invited to attend,” Takei said. “It is our hope that at this point he joins us in voting no on Proposition 8, which seeks to eliminate the fundamental right for same-sex couples to marry in California.”

The future is getting closer…

Director McG reports that principle filming on “Terminator: Salvation” has concluded and post-production work can now begin.

“We wrapped principal photography. Now we’re heavy into post. I’ve already shown early cuts to Christian and Sam. They seem pleased with where the film is headed,” the director wrote on his blog. “Our focus is on story and character, but it’s fun diving into the world of visual effects.”

If you can’t wait any longer to hear the soundtrack to the upcoming “Twilight,” which hits stores on November 4, you can listen on-line.  The soundtrack is currently streaming at its official web-site.

ABC has debuted a new trailer for season five of “Lost.”  The promo contains what appears to be new footage from the fifth season, which is currently in production in Hawaii.  “Lost” will return in January.
