If you love SCI FI’s Saturday night cinema, the good news is there’s more on the way. The cable outlet has signed a deal for the rights to show five more direct-to-TV movies. SCI FI will distribute the movies in the United States with RHI Entertainment handling distribution in other parts of the world.
Filming for all the movies will take place in Romania, according to reports in Daily Variety.
Two of the films have already wrapped production. “Hellhounds†is directed by Rick Schroder and follows a Greek warrior battling in 500 B.C. against the hellhounds of Hades; and “Rise of the Gargoyle†is directed by Bill Corcoran (“Atomic Twister,†“Viperâ€) and stars Eric Balfour as a struggling writer in Paris confronting a gargoyle monster.
The other three films will begin production shortly. They include “Alien Western,†set in an 1890s Old West township; “Carney,†based on the Jersey Devil legend; and “Sand Serpents,†with American soldiers in Afghanistan battling the Taliban and huge man-eating serpents.
All five films will be produced by Muse Entertainment prexy-CEO Michael Prupas, Robert Halmi Sr. and Robert Halmi Jr.
