August 7, 2008 By S. K. Sloan Leave a Comment

“The Zula Patrol” is an animated series on NBC Universal’s qubo.com that ignites children’s interest in science and astronomy.

Deborah Manchester, series creator for “The Zula Patrol,” is our guest for Slice of SciFi Show #173 on Saturday, August 9 and again on Sirius XM Radio, Monday August 19. Manchester says that the reason she brought the series into existence was “…to inspire a love of science in young children. We hope The Zula Patrol will spark children’s natural curiosity about the world around them and lay a critical foundation for understanding basic science concepts, added Manchester. “qubo is the perfect home for The Zula Patrol because of its commitment to informative and high-quality programming that families can watch together.”

Our news, information and entertainment for this weeks show will include segments on Dakota Fanning, J.J. Abrams, and a Princess Bride game. Movie Talk takes a look at two films now available on DVD — “After the Apocalypse” from Japanese filmmaker Yasuaki Nakajima and the Val Kilmer revenge flick titled “Conspiracy.” TV Talk has one topic — Simon Baker. Baker an actor who worked with Kilmer on the film “Red Planet” and now he will be headlining the cast for the new CBS weekly series in the fall called “The Mentalist.” For the Future we have an update about the Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer collaboration called “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal. A new film from the pen of David S. Goyer (“Ghost Rider,” “Blade: The Series”) begins production and is called “The Unborn.”

We will have our weekly special segments and more as Deborah Manchester joins our studio crew for a lively interview, so be sure to join us this Saturday, August 9, 2008 for Slice of SciFi.
