Second Robot Chicken Star Wars Special Planned

Second Robot Chicken Star Wars Special Planned

July 23, 2008 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

Following the success of last year’s special lampooning “A galaxy far, far away…,” Robot Chicken will return to George Lucas’ playground later this year with a second special focusing on the Star Wars universe, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“It doesn’t even seem real — getting to make Star Wars twice!” said Robot Chicken co-creator Seth Green, who is set to direct the second Star Wars-themed episode after winning an Annie Award for helming the first one.

This time, “we decided to focus on the bounty hunters a bit and explore their stories,” Robot Chicken co-creator Matt Senreich said. “It’s a geek-fest for us all.”

For the second installment, Robot Chicken will feature the voices of Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia and Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. Other voice-talents from the first installment who will return are Seth MacFarlane as Emperor Palpatine, Conan O’Brien as Zuckuss, Breckin Meyer as Admiral Ackbar and Boba Fett, and Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks. Comedian Andy Richter will join the voice-talent.

The new installment will air on Cartoon Network on November 16.

The first Star Wars special won critical and fan accolades and is nominated for an Emmy. If you’ve missed the special, you can pick it up on DVD.
