It almost looked like a scene out of one of Lynda Carter’s 1970’s Wonder Woman episodes except in this case it was all too real.
Carter was alone on her cruiser earlier this week on the Potomac River in Washington D.C. when she noticed something that looked like a body floating near her boat. Sure enough it turned out to be that of a human female. Carter, minus her cell phone, flagged down a nearby fishing boat and had them call 911. She then kept her boat near the body until rescuers and police arrived on the scene.
The floater was later identified as that of 47-year-old Helen Johnstone of Washington, according to the Associated Press. The D.C. Medical Examiner’s office stated that the cause of death has yet to be determined.
Carter says she “did what anybody would have done.” Obviously she never visited Connecticut.
A near 60 year old woman goes out alone, without any form of security or boating protection, ZERO form of communication, on what was the WORST EVER RECORDED weather day in Washington DC history on June 4th 2008??!!!! I have noticed that there are multiple explanations, descriptions, and media disinformationist theories on what exactly happened and who said or did what, when, or why? This woman knew Ms. Carter from their yachting days and was going to meet Ms. Carter. This story stinks though not one single media outlet in the Country has questioned why she would go out “canoing” on the worst weather day ever recorded in DC history?
I haven’t found any reports that she new the victim. Where did you hear that? Also, she went to the Boat Club where she kept her boat, and launched from there. I think they would have noticed her lugging a body on board to be dumped. It may have been poor weather, but she was by not by far the only person out on the water that day. Besides, the woman was wearing hiking gear from what I read, at least a backpack. I would rather image Lynda Carter to be innocent until proven otherwise, she being such a big part of my childhood and all.
