Slice of SciFi Poll For Week Beginning April 20, 2008
n
This may seem like a tacky poll question but is one the press has been tip-toeing around since the death of actor Heath Ledger. Not being afraid of controversy we ask it here. Has the death of Ledger, who plays the Joker in the upcoming "The Dark Knight" Batman movie made the film even more of an appeal for moviegoers to go and see this summer?

For anyone to think it isn’t “Yes”, or at least “Some will buy a ticket for that reason” forgets entirely what happened with “The Crow” and Brandon Lee. That movie may have been a hit, but not like it ended up being due to his untimely death. Lots of people went to see it because he died during the filming. While this is a bit different…it is very similar.
it is unfortunate, but i can foresee boycotts of this movie by the Christian media because ledger was in brokeback mountain.
the doctors who gave him the pills should go to prison as far as i’m concerned. giving him a lethal cocktail of sleeping pills and anti anxiety drugs.
In response to the idea of Christian boycotts of Heath Ledger because of his past work, I quote the great Han Solo: “Bring ‘em on! I prefer a straight fight to all this sneakin’ around.” The only thing which will result in the boycotting is the same thing that *always* happens when a film is boycotted for pretty much any reason: more people will go see it, to see what the fuss is all about.
