A fourth Austin Powers on the horizon?

April 14, 2008 by Michael Hickerson   || Category: Film News

Is Mike Myer’s alter-ego Austin Powers ramping up for another return to a theater near you?

Reports in this morning’s Boston Globe indicate that a new adventure for Austin, Dr Evil and the rest of the cast of colorful characters from the first three films could be happening sooner rather than later.   A blurb in the paper reports that supermodel Gisele Bundchen has been given a script for a fourth Powers movie and will meet with Myers and director Jay Roach about being the new Powers-girl.   Bundchen would follow in the footsteps of the first three Powers girls, including Elizabehth Hurley, Heather Graham and Beyonce Knowles.

Ain’t It Cool News reports that initial rumors concerning the story for the fourth Powers film would be a flashback to how Dr. Evil became an evil super-villain and his first battles with the acclaimed International Man of Mystery.

We should warn readers there’s been no official word or confirmation from Myers, Roach or New Line, the producer of the first three Austin Powers movies.

If they make a new AP film, I hope it will be better than the third one. The first two were comedy classics. That third one…meh.

Why? Oh why? Is Mike Meyers that bored?

Well, I think if he follows what I heard in an interview a long time ago, it could potentially be a good movie. I think I heard it on SOSF, as a matter of fact. He was talking about how if he made a fourth Austin Powers movie, it would focus primarily on Dr. Evil.

Speaking for myself, I’ve always thought Dr. Evil was a much more interesting character than Austin Powers. That’s why “The Spy Who Shaged Me” is my favorite of the three. Seems like there were more Dr. Evil and Mini-Me scenes in that one.
