Amazon offers three free Stargate downloads

April 9, 2008 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

To promote the DVD release of the Stargate SG1: The Ark of Truth and to celebrate the newly announced Stargate spin-off, Amazon’s UnBox service is offering a free download of three pivotal and favorite episodes from the ten year run of the classic series.

The three episodes are free for a limited time. They are:

  • The Torment of Tantalus (season 1, episode 10): A vital chapter in the secret history of the Stargate on Earth is revealed, as we meet a man who went through the gate in 1945 — and never made it back. The team finds him, and, maybe, the secrets of the universe. And yeah, that’s Paul McGillion (later seen in Stargate Atlantis) starring the flashback sequence.
  • Window of Opportunity (season 4, episode 6): Stargate gets all Groundhog Day on itself with an episode where two characters find themselves reliving the same few hours — and doing some pretty wacky stuff (including gate-golfing). I’ll put it this way: It’s a fan favorite for a reason.
  • The Lost City, Parts 1 & 2 (season 7, episodes 21 & 22): The two “Lost City” episodes were originally intended to be a second Stargate movie, and a conclusion to the series and the ambition shows. It ended up as the seventh-season finale and launch pad for Stargate Atlantis.

Windows of Opportunity is one of my favorite episodes. RDA’s schtick is wonderful.

As for the Stargate spin off, I’ve heard it’s something like this:

Two Ancient ships found: one makes stargates and populates planets with them, the other ship has an SGC crew that follows it and explores these recently stargate’d areas.
