SCI FI.com is reporting that Eric Kripke, creator and executive producer of The CW’s series “Supernatural,” been waiting to get to the storyline in the upcoming third season ever since the show began.
“This is the season to join the party,” Kripke said in an interview. “Or for fans, this is the season they’ve been waiting for. From the beginning I was always like, ‘Oh, man just let us get to season three.’ Because [in] season one and two we set the chess board, and in season three, really all hell breaks loose.”
Kripke added that the series will return to a simpler season-long mythology focusing on the ongoing war between good and evil. “There’s so much we’re paying off,” he said. “I feel the mythology was great in season one. I think the standalones were great in season two. But I think the mythology of season two was just okay. It was too complicated. It wasn’t as visceral as ‘find dad.’ And in season three we’re back to a really visceral mythology, which is, ‘It’s war, what do we do?’ And so we’re really excited about that mythology, and we feel, again, it’s going to be the most exciting season yet.’
The first two Spider Man flicks will now be available in the high-definition Blu-ray format as part of a three-pack set from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, according to The Hollywood Reporter . The set will also be available in a standard-definition version, the company announced.
Spider-Man 3 will be available separately on DVD and Blu-ray in both single-disc and two-disc editions beginning on Oct. 30. The single disc comes with bloopers, photo galleries, a Snow Patrol music video and an audio commentary from the director and cast and anoher from the other from the producers, editor and special-effects supervisor. There will also be loads of extras about Sandman and Venom.
Tim Kring, creator and executive producer of NBC’s mega SF hit series “Heroes,” says that his upcoming second season of the show will bring to light some new bad guys. “There’s a couple new villains,” Kring told reporters. “We’re doing 11 episodes in a row that start on September 24. And somewhere in that run of episodes we’re going to introduce a very scary villain.”
Kring also stated that by comparison Season Two’s villians will make Sylar and Linderman look quite tame.
“At the end of last season we gave in the season finale a premonition of someone who is a very scary villain out there, who has invaded the dreams and nightmares of this character on our show named Molly Walker, who can locate people just by thinking about them,” Kring said. “[We] teased the idea that there was another villain out there. And the audience can expect to see him somewhere in the first run of episodes.”
It’d been a few weeks since the British tabloid “The Sun” threw out a “Doctor Who” rumor….
A few days ago, the paper announced that “Jekyll” star James Nesbitt had been tapped as the 11th incarnation of the popular Time Lord and that he’d take over from current Doctor David Tennant sometime during the fourth series that will air in the Spring of 2008 on BBC One.
Stephen Moffatt, the producer of “Jekyll” and a writer for “Doctor Who” denied the report on the forums at “Outpost Gallifrey.”
“The James Nesbitt story is a total fabrication,” Moffat said on the Outpost Gallifrey forums. “Made up. A fantasy. Just a guy sitting at a desk and just inventing stuff. I wasn’t going to say anything, but I’m getting embarrassed for the deeply wonderful Jimmy Nesbitt. So tell everyone please, [because] it’s getting very silly.”
There is no official word on whether or not Tennant will return to the role after the series’ fourth season. In the past, three years has been (for the most part) the traditional tenure for most Doctors, (Pertwee went five, T.Baker went seven) leading many to wonder about the future of the show and if Tennant might step down after next year. There’s also no contract for producer Russell T. Davies beyond series four, though last week producer Julie Gardner told “Doctor Who Magazine” that she can’t imagine Davies stepping down after series four.
We’ll keep our eyes and ears open for any updates and bring them to you as soon as we receive them.
According to SyFy Portal The return of “Stargate: Atlantis” will be one hour later than its previous outings. The show had secured its place for the last 3-years in the 9PM ET/PT time slot but will now move to the more adult-themed viewing time of 10PM ET/PT.
Producers are telling fans to not fret over this decision because it will allow them to do something they have always wanted for the show — that is, gear the storylines for a more adult audience, telling stories that are a little more challenging and on-the-edge.
NBC Universal, the parent company of the SCI FI Channel wants Friday to recapture a full evening of viewing as it had done in the past. Over the last few years, ratings on Friday have been slipping, but with the “Bionic Woman” airing at 7PM on NBC and “Doctor Who,” “Flash Gordon” and ‘Stargate: Atlantis” following on SCI FI, the brass are convinced this is a good ratings match.
Fans are quick to remind NBC that a more grittier, adult-oriented series already had that slot in the past. However, NBC was also quick to remind fans that the Peadbody Award winning show “Battlestar Galactica” was starting to slip in its numbers and it forced a move to Sunday nights. “Atlantis” will grow darker, but maintain that same overall Stargate feel long established by its parent show “Stargate: SG1.” Actress Amanda Tapping has been brought on board to facilitate that slide into the mindset.
Look for “Stargate: Atlantis” to return with all new episodes on September 28, 2007.
One of the best adaptions of the “Batman” franchise was the 1990s “Batman: The Animated Series.” This cartoon series pretty much set the bar by which all other superhero releated animated series are judged (and left many found wanting).
The influence of the animated series could be even be felt on live-action hit “Batman Begins.”
Now as “The Dark Knight” prepares to head into theaters next summer, the Dark Knight will be getting animated again. Warner Brothers announced last week that they are creating an anime project, similiar to that done for “The Matrix” trilogy, to fill in some of the story between “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight” according to SyFyPortal.
The anime-series will carry a PG-13 ratings and has already signed on several high-profile writers. Josh Osteen (“A History of Violence”), David Goyer (“Batman Begins”) and comic-book scribe Brian Azzarello have been tied to the project.
No word yet on how the anime project will be released. It could follow the path of “The Animatrix” and go directly to DVD, while there is also speculation that the segments could be released on-line. Or Warner Brothers could choose to do both since sales patterns show that comic book fans have a tendency to purchase releases with their favorite characters.
Either way, look for the project to debut sometime before the release of “The Dark Knight” next July.
The webseries “Sanctuary” is looking to branch out of its online beginnings to other formats, according to its creator Damian Kindler.
“You have to think of an idea that works seamlessly across multiple formats,” Damian Kindler, the Stargate producer who is the creator of “Sanctuary” and chief executive of Stage 3 Media which produces the series, told SyFy Portal’s Marx Pyle. You want “something you can push to mobile phones, to your iPod, to television, to DVD, [and something that] is a good interactive online experience and is a great standalone game. We create one type of entertainment — different forms of it — but this is the sort of format. We want to be the pioneers, the innovators, the perfectionists. That is it. That is our goal. That’s the plan.”
Makes one wonder if a feature film couldn’t be far off.
