“Others” Flashbacks?

January 7, 2007 By S. K. Sloan 1 Comment

For the past 3 seasons on ABC’s hit SF drama “Lost” the audience has been made privy to a large assortment of flashbacks into the lives of our central characters who now find themselves stranded together on this uncharted place in the middle of nowhere. This look into their pre-island days has helped fans get a handle on the complexity of their lives and give them a better understanding of where and who they were, which answers many of the questions as it relates to their current actions under situations of tremendous strain.

What viewers don’t know however, is much about the pre-island days in the lives of the Others, particularly their leader Ben Linus, deftly played by actor Michael Emerson. On the streets of any major city Ben would appear to be an unassuming man, with little or no leadership qualities, yet here, on the island, he garners complete control over the Others and is a compelling force in their lives, and now in the lives of our newly stranded characters.

Recently Crave Online caught up with Emerson and interviewed him about the possibiblity of seeing such flashbacks into the lives of the Others, especially that of his character, Ben Linus. Here is what Michael had to say on that subject:

Crave Online: Will we see Ben’s flashback?
Michael Emerson:
That would be a really interesting flashback, wouldn’t it? I don’t think there’s one coming soon. It would have to give away so much backstory, not just about him but about the island and the origins of all these miracles and mysteries, they would have to think carefully about it. But yeah, that would be a heck of an episode when and if it happens.

Spoken like a true leader of the Others, just enough meat on the nothingness bone to make us want to watch and see if that kind of episode ever does occur. You can catch the entire interview with Michael at the CraveOnline.com website.
