“Torchwood” Shoots and Scores For Two

“Torchwood” Shoots and Scores For Two

December 13, 2006 By Kyle Nin 5 Comments

torchwood“Torchwood,” the “Doctor Who” spinoff starring John Barrowman has scored with fans and has been given the greenlight for a second series, according to the BBC.

The show takes place from the anagram organization formed by Queen Victoria. In the 21st Century Torchwood, a highly secretive branch of the British government, is led by the immortal time traveling American called Captain Jack Harkness. The purpose of Torchwood, as established by the old Victorian queen is to investigate and curtail human crimes, alien visitations to Earth and extraterrestrial meddling in human affairs. What makes this group unique is its willingness to use alien technology to accomplish the task at hand.

Series Two of “Torchwood” begins shooting around March of 2007 for UK viewing later in the year. As was discussed in a recent Slice of SciFi Show and a SyfyPortal interview with Barrowman, Captain Jack will be making a few re-visits to the good Doctor’s turf in future “Doctor Who” episodes.

Can someone please tell me why the hell this show isn’t being aired in the U.S.??

I think it’s too new in the UK to be shown in the US. Wait a year or two.

I watched the first six episodes of S1 and it wasn’t actually that good. It frequently threw out logic and continuity for the sake of melodrama (not good drama like BSG, but melodrama) and cheap scares.

I’m only two episodes in and that’s seriously all I can stand. The cheaply tacked on gay stuff coupled with poor writing is just too much. OK, Mr. Davies you are flamboyant and have an equally flamboyant yet manly main actor…just don’t ram it down our throats (no pun intended)…

Although Mr Davies can’t help himself in the innuendo department it does lessen as it goes on.

Stick with it as it does have it’s moments.
