SG-1 Celebrates Its 200th

August 14, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 6 Comments

RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON RETURNS TO STARGATE SG-1

Former Stargate SG-1 Star Returns for the Historic 200th Episode Will Also Guest Star on Stargate Atlantis

pic_17.bmpRichard Dean Anderson, former star and executive producer of Stargate SG-1, returns to the series for its historic 200th original episode, airing Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at 9/8C on SCI FI. Production on the episode commenced back on April 5, 2006, in Vancouver. Anderson, who reprises his role as Gen. Jack O’Neill, will also make special guest appearances in a number of additional episodes of both SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis that will air in the shows 2006-2007 seasons.

Stargate SG-1’s 200th episode, appropriately titled “200,” will center on the SG-1 team as they serve as advisers on a television series that bears remarkable similarities to the goings on at Stargate Command. As they pitch to the producer the many adventures that they have been involved with over the years, the team discovers that truth really is stranger than fiction…but nothing is stranger than the machinations of Hollywood. In addition to Anderson, “200” will feature a guest appearance by fan favorite Willie Garson (Sex & the City).

Currently still in production on its tenth original season (its fifth on SCI FI), Stargate SG-1 is now the longest-running science-fiction series on American television, surpassing The X-Files and every iteration of Star Trek.

Head over to SciFi.com for a video preview of the landmark 200th episode.

I was rewatching the pilot episode last night by some strange coincidence. I must say, even now it stands out as a fantastic piece of work full of promise and originality. From that episode alone you could see that this one was going to run and run.

The screencaps look hilarious- the wizard of Oz? Farscape? TREK? Oh my Goid this is going to be brilliant!

Amen! When nothing is on tv and I want something to watch, I pull out my Stargate DVDs. I enjoy each show as if it’s the first time I’m seeing it.

Hopefully this episode will draw in some very much-needed viewers. I really hope that this series (and Atlantis) goes on forever.
