Eureka Breaks Ratings Record

July 20, 2006 By Sam Sloan 10 Comments

Source: SciFi Wire

SCI FI’s new original series Eureka garnered the network’s highest-ever ratings for a series telecast in its history. The July 18 two-hour premiere got a 3.2 household rating, or 4 million viewers. That included 1.9 million aged 25-54 and 1.7 million aged 18-49.

Eureka was the number-one cable program on July 18 in household ratings, total viewers and in the 25-54 and 18-49 demographics.

Eureka was also the highest-rated and most-watched premiere telecast of a cable original series in Tuesday prime time this year.

Eureka is executive produced by Andrew Cosby and Jaime Paglia and stars Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Joe Morton, Jordan Hinson, Debrah Farentino and Ed Quinn. It airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
(The pilot episode will rerun this Friday, July 21, 2006 at 7PM ET).

If you haven’t had a chance to see this it is going to be repeated a couple of times. Sorry don’t have the dates/times right here.

Now having said that it will be repeated…go watch this show! SciFi may have found the clue that good writing/good stories will get you viewers! (I won’t start the wrestling rant which is where SciFi has lost its mind).

It’s a combination of X-Files with, from what I have read, what it must have been like to live in Los Alamos when that wasn’t on the map and it was a “company town” all be it a government company town.

Greatest line from the show so far.

U.S. Marshall “Who are you Einstien”
Eleven year old kid “No. I’m an Openhiemer”

    Yes physics humor folks.

    chiefted,

I think the next line by the kid was something like “The Einsteins on the next street”, or something similar.

And I agree: best line of the show.

Quality, original programming that is in line with the identity of the SciFi network sets a record……Hallelujah!

Now can we please get rid of wrasslin’?

I thought Eureka was good and look forward to seeing more of it. The show that really impressed me was Dead Like Me. I remember it being on HBO or Showtime. Today I bought the season one and two dvds, and watched the first seven shows straight in a row.

I have to admit, I was expecting another “boa vs python” flick, but was surprised how pleasing the show was. I don’t think we have another BSG, but it has potential to be a SG1. I allready put a season pass on my Tivo, 🙂

Last night I was watching Sci-Fi and…what? Did I see an ad for “Dead Like Me”?? Yaaaaay!!!! I just recently added it to my Netflix queue.
And they’re also going to be running the unfortunately canceled “Night Stalker” as well. Though I got the Complete Series DVD set, I’m happy to see that ALL of the episodes will be shown.
It was a very good show. Too good, apparently, for network TV.
By the way, if you go to Scifi’s website and go to the Schedule page, you can enter the name of a show and get all of the airdates and times for first runs and the repeats.

Finished watching the first season of Dead Like Me, which had a nice treat at the end. Last show had Jewel Straite aka Kaylee as a hot goth chick.

This show is a lot like falling in love with a dead person.
