You guys seem to think you invented the whole “Snakes on a Plane” thing or made it popular, but it is seriously old internet culture. It has been on SomethingAwful / LUELinks / 4chan almost six months ago. It is an old fad. Just don’t let it get to your head.
Hey, just started listening to today’s show & you were talking about the free download of Conviction. One of y’all said it would be great if the networks would offer extras with the iTunes versions of shows. Well for Conviction, they also have a free music video and a free 3 minute behind-the-scenes video.
I don’t know if I’d be willing to pay for shows on a regular basis because my Tivo records them for me, but I do know that I’d watch just about any series pilot that they put up for free. There are just too many shows to decide what to watch based on a one paragraph description.
I probably wouldn’t have watched House from the beginning if Entertainment Weekly hadn’t sent me a free DVD with the pilot ep.

Speaking of Tivo, wasn’t a new feature going to be that Tivos would format your recorded movie for play on the Video Ipod? You’d still have commercials and such, but transportable media seems to be the way of the future.
As far as Battlestar goes I guess I’m the only one who liked the blackmarket episode. The backstory was unwanted but needed for the hooker to be relevant. How about the show where the engineer of Pegasus became the ship’s commander, and (spoiler) died. And to so my love for you guys, I jump on this cliche grenade. Being commander of the beast is like being the drummer for Spinal Tap.
The shield is a great show, but my favorite bad cop is still Sheriff Lobo.
With the exception of the last episode, “Downloaded” –OMG!!! that was a great episode–I think Evo is being way too hard on the previous 4 episodes.
While “Black Market” wasn’t the greatest episode, it was nice for once to see that Apollo isn’t the perfect happy pretty boy that he’s been portrayed throughout most of the series. Finally, he has to make some real choices. And finally he’s learning some of the hard lessons that his dad has to teach him. I know plenty of women love the fact that he is great eye-candy. Personally, I am happier that he is turning into a real character in the series.
And in “Sacrifice” Apollo was smart enough *not* to come out guns blazing from the bathroom–not that I believe he had a gun at that point. Guns blazing is the surest way to get hostages killed. A point that is emphasized twice in the episode.
This series isn’t all about action. Nor, much to John Ringo’s chagrin, is it all about military SciFi. There are all sorts of technical things that have been done wrong in this series. It doesn’t matter. What does matter is that Moore & crew have created a bunch of characters, including cylons, that we really care about and put them in impossibly difficult situations. It is riviting to watch because we care about them.
This isn’t Snakes on a Plane, man. It is way better than that.
In terms of bad guys as lead characters. I have always thought it would be a good idea to have Star Trek: Mirror. Which is basically a full show of Star Trek in the Mirror “Bad” universe. I mean there are plenty of historical markers that Star Trek uses to cement the idea of a Dark mirror universe, and it would certainly be a new direction for the show to take. And you know what, it would be cool.
Vin Diesel as Captain America WTF are you guys thinking, When I heard that I nearly vomited. Thats the single worst idea I’ve ever heard. I guess if your looking for a good way to kill off the whole Captain America franchise Vin Diesel would be the way to go, That guy shouldn’t be allowed with in 10,000ft of the Captain America set.
I truthfully think I would rather have Keanu Reeves as Captain America then Vin Diesel.
I do find your idea about a illegal immigration as Capatain America very funny, To bad Marvel’s ‘What If’ line is long gone.

Well, hell. If they’re gonna go *there*, why not Wesley Snipes?! In fact, why NOT Wesley Snipes? There would be so much psycho/socio stuff in that casting. People’s minds, conceptions, etc would be blown all to hell.
I mean, just imagine: a BLACK Captain America!!!
(To some people that would be like finding out that Jesus was Black. Which he was, but I digress…)
I know I’m a week late, but i’m catching up on the ‘casts that i’ve missed.
When talking about animated superheros, I can’t believe that you guys didn’t mention Bruce Timm’s MASTERFULL DC Animated Universe. This is the last season of Justice League Unlimited on Cartoon Network, and the final Batman: The Animated Series, and Superman: TAS DVD collections were released recently. For the past 13 years, through six series’, and several DTV’s they’ve delivered one of the greatest animated universes that fandom has seen. There was great continuity, characterization, drama, and action. There’s little information on what’s coming next after this summer’s Superman DTV, but signs point to the Legion of Superheros.
If you guys have never checked it out, you have some homework to do!
