Real Scientists Pick Their Top 10 SciFi Films

Real Scientists Pick Their Top 10 SciFi Films

January 5, 2014 By Sam Sloan 2 Comments

Some of the harshest critics of science fiction films and television are members of the scientific community, particularly those who specialize in the field of physics, astronomy and astrobiology. Popular Mechanics put together a poll of many of the leading scientists working at NASA and various other disciplines to get their picks for what they considered to be the very best in science fiction movies. Only one film from the 21st Century made their list. Here is their Top Ten:

I would have thought ‘Primer’ would be in there too.

Agreed James. There were several that I thought would make the list and didn’t and a couple that made it were a real surprise. I had really thought the Robert Wise film The Day the Earth Stood Still would have made the list and as entertaining as WALL-E was that one was a surprise to me.
