“Futurama” App Allows You To Create Head-in-a-Jar

“Futurama” App Allows You To Create Head-in-a-Jar

July 28, 2011 By Mike Hickerson Leave a Comment

Good news everyone!

A new app will allow you to put your head in jar, just like those seen on Futurama.

Creator Matt Groening announced the app during the Futurama panel at ComicCon and it’s now available for the iPhone and iPad.

The App allows users create their own customized character, choosing from male/female humans, robots or aliens, even customizing traits such as eyes, nose, hair, blemishes and the background.  Other features include Futurama-themed accessories, such as a foil hat (seen in Into the Wild Green Yonder), Flexo’s beard, Nibbler’s antenna and a customized name plate for each head designed!  Says Jake Wallace, Producer w/ CC Digital Media of the character models:

“Some of the robot and alien head types will be instantly recognizable to fans (Bender and Clamps for Robots, Kif and Morbo for Aliens). We wanted to be sure to incorporate iconic Futurama designs while also offering some new and unique head types. The real fun lies in customizing your head with features and accessories: someone can choose the Bender head, but then give it a tape deck for eyes and a big brown wig, and suddenly they’ve created an entirely new character. The development team has been playing with the app for months and we’re still making new combinations that crack us up.”
