Punch Cast, Patric Eying Role in “Powers”,

June 22, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Actor Jason Patric is in conversations for a lead role in FX’s pilot Powers.

Patric will play Christian Walker, a cop who works in the Powers division of the police force and deals with crimes involving those endowed with special abilities.

The first story in the Powers comic, which is serving as the basis for the pilot, involves the murder of Retro Girl, a superpowered celebrity. Walker, who gets paired up with a rookie on the case, is determined to track down the killer even if it costs him his badge.

Patrick’s potential involvement comes after news broke earlier this week that Lucy Punch has been cast as the female lead for the series.  Punch will play Deena Pilgrim in the pilot.

Fans may recall that actress Katee Sackoff was in the running for the role, but other pilot commitments prevented her from joinin

Punch may be best known to readers for her work in the Simon Pegg comedy, Hot Fuzz.

Or, from the Tenth Kingdom. But then, if you saw her in The Class, or Bad Teacher, or wherever, you already know Lucy is pretty much amazing.

I notice Jason Patric’s name is spelled two different ways in the article. It is correctly spelled as Jason Patric, or the Star of such classic films like Speed 2… and Narc.

He is a decent enough actor and I’m eager to see this show.
