Using Past Experience as a Guide. How Long Will SyFy Give “Alphas”?

Using Past Experience as a Guide. How Long Will SyFy Give “Alphas”?

May 22, 2011 By News Droid 7 Comments

If you love scifi then you are already aware of SyFy’s terrible record of removing shows from its lineup that are well written, directed, produced and acted when those shows get a bit pricey to do. Keeping the past in mind (i.e., SGU, The Dresden Files, Caprica, etc.); how long do you give the new highly anticipated series “Alphas” starring Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner David Strathairn? The series debuts July 11, 2011 at 10 ET.

lol maybe we can start a betting pool on each new series as to how long it’ll be around.

because of their track record i don’t watch most of their shows already and I’m certainly not going start watching any new shows. they’ll have to keep trying to sell those hideous movies to i don’t know who.
the station needs to be sold to some people with brains and ambition. right now they’re a spin-off of a giant failing network with the same creative bean counters that ruin anything that doesn’t give them instant gratification. shows like worlds biggest loser and dancing with the stars are a couple the world can do without.

I never did understand bashing a network for canceling shows that were given a chance, but came in with truly low ratings. And not watching new shows as a result makes it a self-fulfilling prophecy, wouldn’t you think?

    SyFy rules for cancellation:
If it has SG somewhere in the title, 2-5 seasons
If it has a puppet in it, 2-4 seasons
If it has a robot in it, 13 episodes to 1 season
If it has a wrestler in it, PRIMETIME!!!

I predict that it will be less than half of the episodes in Marcel’s Kitchen.

Let’s hope the ratings decide. If it is good and it gets viewer then they will keep it. If it does not get ratings they will droip it. The question is how long will they give it to get ratings!??? What we as fans need to do is to watch it and giv eit our support to get better. Most of our favorite series first couple of season are/were always the weakest but ratings gave them time. Lets watch it if it is good and lets not start bashing it before it even airs or trying to persuade pople not to watch it. The fans killed SGU not SYFY. No channel is going to drop a ratings hit. The fact is that more stupid people watch their realtiy crap and wrestling than wathc the SYFY shows. SYFY’s ratings as a whole are up due to this crap that they put on and the brain dead amongst us watch it. Wrestling is almost qualified to be SCI-FI or at least Fantasy 🙂

Stuff that sci-fi or sy-fy actually makes always suck. Stargate was originally Showtime’s. Eureka and Warehouse 13 are science fantasy, not sci-fi, and both shows are more about moronic comedy with a flashy background than sci-fi, too many episodes end with “oh, I forgot I had the solution in my pocket the whole time” crap.
Sci-fi is Asimov, Clarke, Orwell, Heinlen, Wells, Crichton. To name a very few. When did stupid, slapstick fantasy become sci-fi?
Yes, I listed authors, the source of the ideas that syfy ruins.
When wrestling is the flagship franchise of a science fiction channel you should expect garbage, and SyFy delivers.
