The cast for the big-screen adaptation of The Hunger Games is growing.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, actress Elizabeth Banks is negotiating to play Effie Trinket, the woman assigned by the government to shepherd the District 12 tributes through the games. For those of you who didn’t read the books, the tributes from District 12 are two of the story’s main characters, Peeta and Katniss.
There’s also news that two other pivotal roles have been cast. The tributes from District 11, Rue and Thresh, have also been cast.
They will be played by Amandla Stenberg and Dayo Okeniyi. Both actors are new to Hollywood and this will be their first major role in a movie.
My response to this whole casting of the “Hunger Games” is meh. I hope I am wrong, but this book series deserves better than what is happening to it.
