Will “Source Code” Help or Hurt Jake Gyllenhaal’s Career?

Will “Source Code” Help or Hurt Jake Gyllenhaal’s Career?

April 2, 2011 By News Droid 3 Comments

After the disasters that were “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” and “Love and Other Drugs” many in Hollywood were beginning to wonder if actor Jake Gyllenhaal had a real hit movie in his future. The young actor has been the butt of comedian’s jokes since “Persia” but now critics appear to be loving him again in Duncan Jones’s new scifi thriller “Source Code,” some calling it as action-packed and meaningful as Christoper Nolan’s “Inception”.

Tell us what you think “Source Code” will do for Gyllenhaal’s career.

Being one of those that ridiculed the choice of Gyllenhaal in the first place for the the Prince of Persia (I’m a big fan of the games and couldn’t see him as the Prince) I thought he did a decent job in the movie. The movie wasn’t really dead on with the game anyway. Never saw Love and Other Drugs so I can’t comment on that but I have heard good reviews for Source Code and will probably eventually see it. As for his career…it’s like any other actor in Hollywood…they are only as successful as their next movie.

I’m going to see this movie based on the “Daily Show” interview alone. The guy is funny!

Seriously – there’s nothing a good actor can do with a bad script.

And it’s not like there are a ton of good scripts to pick from. “Gnomio and…”, “The Smurfs Movie”? These sound like bad memes from SOSF.
