Why does the media seem to think women like fighting crime in heels?

  2. Sam says

    March 19, 2011 at 6:53 am

@Mari: Because guys write the scripts. That’s also why hot babes like to fight crime with their gigantic boobs ready to pop out into the bad guys face at any moment. It distracts the culprits long enough to get the cuffs on them, or in WW’s case, the magic lariat.

To those who always wondered if Wonder Woman had a push-up bra, now we know.

  4. Ken says

    March 19, 2011 at 6:57 am

    Looks horrible!

  5. Sam says

    March 19, 2011 at 7:01 am

Just one other thought. She looks like a halloween costumed bimbo, not a crime fighting vixen.

  6. Rob says

Where are the flashing lights, the music, and the pole?

  7. Mich67 says

    March 19, 2011 at 9:06 am

Have to agree with the halloween costume bimbo comment…I am not loving this outfit.

  8. Lee Poston says

    March 19, 2011 at 9:17 am

Looks like it came from a fetish costume shop.

  9. Clay says

    March 19, 2011 at 10:18 am

    Oh come on!

What were you expecting? A burca?

Wonder Woman has been wearing a bustier since the 40’s

DC just Changed her top to something more practical and people are bitching about that.

My only complaint is that the pants should be darker and the boots red.

As a woman with some experience in hand-to-hand combat, I can say that it really is about time that all our female superheros not have to worry about a “wardrobe malfunction” while fighting bad guys. Unless of course that could be an intentional strategy to distract said bad guys (ref: Denis Leary’s routine about using a boob-blimp to “pacify” locations experiencing social unrest).

Darker coloring and a top that she wouldn’t be threatening to pop out of every time she moved would have been nice.

      And remember… NO CAPES!

You for got the option “The costume looks great, but, the show sounds terrible!”
OR “The costume looks great, will watch show with sound off.” OR “I’ll be in my bunk.”

  11. VyseN1 says

    March 19, 2011 at 12:03 pm

Definitely looks like a Halloween costume. One bought at Party City.

  12. AndyMac says

    March 19, 2011 at 12:57 pm

Looks OK to me. I do agree the boots should be red. The blue all the way down is a little weird and the original boots were red.

I don’t understand all the halloween costume, bimbo and fetish costume references though. Does anyone actually remember the Lynda Carter version?

    @Mike. We can’t include every option….LOL

    Meh.

  15. Zoe says

    March 19, 2011 at 7:52 pm

Looks like plastic or PVC. Also, the boots should be red. Maybe if they used a more leather like material than trying for the fake metallic sheen it would look better.

  16. DoctorWhoFan says

    March 19, 2011 at 8:00 pm

I have to agree that it does look like something that someone would buy at Party City. Why they feel that they had to mess around with the costume, I do not know. Hopefully the show will be entertaining.

  17. Meatball says

    March 19, 2011 at 11:48 pm

Anybody got change for a twenty? All ones, please. 🙂

  18. Mich67 says

    March 20, 2011 at 5:09 am

It isn’t the top that makes it look tacky…it’s the cheap looking material (store bought costume look)…I didn’t have a problem with Linda Carter’s version even though by today’s standard’s it would look a little dated. With that being said….practical-wise the bustier isn’t very combat friendly and if this is going to be a more serious version of Wonder Woman (and I’m not sure where they are going with it) I’d rather see something a little more grown up and less comical that this.

  19. Sam says

    March 20, 2011 at 6:40 am

@AndyMac – Yes, but at least Lynda looked hot and demure (which all males love that combination) and not like she should be sliding down a pole at Porky’s.

  20. TheHatch says

    March 20, 2011 at 7:34 am

What’s up with that crotch? Yeah, It does look like a plastic halloween costume. A nice pair of denim jeans would have fit better than that. On the subject of bras, I thought even the comic book covered more. Looks like marketing to me. I know about the red boots, but they probably would have screwed that up, too.

  21. Bob Singer says

    March 20, 2011 at 10:24 pm

It’s the plasticky shine that bothers me, as well as the 4 inch wide cleavage. Change the fabric, push them boobs together, and I’m fine with it. Color scheme is not the same, but not so different from the past to make a big difference.

  22. Shadoglare says

    March 21, 2011 at 5:32 am

Like most guys I certainly have an appreciation for shiny skin-tight outfits on the right body. But man, something just doesn’t look right about this costume.
And I’m hoping that’s some kind of shiny spandex and not latex, because anybody trying to do super-hero-y stuff in latex is gonna die of dehydration in about an hour.

  23. KGDC says

    March 21, 2011 at 8:20 am

    *shrug*

You can’t make her costume UNstripper-ish. So, it’s good for what I hope will be a decent show… even though I know better.

  24. ALibertarian says

    March 21, 2011 at 10:23 am

Where are her legs? Shouldn’t be covered for serveral reasons, besides esthetics.
Also, she’s about to come out of that top

    and

    heels?

It is nice to look at but totally impractical.

  25. Michael Falkner says

    March 21, 2011 at 12:08 pm

Found this today. It makes it better in my opinion, but not great.

  26. KGDC says

    March 21, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I just dont like the pants. That’s my major complaint. Other than that… it’s not that terrible. I think it’s the coloring. Were they more darkened, it would seem less like a plastic Holloween costume and more like an outfit.

  27. Shadoglare says

    March 22, 2011 at 5:03 am

I just noticed the Linda Carter version of the costume looks like she’s wearing patriotic Depends – maybe this is better.
A few friends did point out though that they feel that having her wearing pants at all (rather than the hotpants which I guess are more standard for the character) is an issue.

  28. Sam says

    March 22, 2011 at 6:35 am

@Michael Falkner: Have to agree that compared to the current look I like the darker pants and red boots a lot more. Hopefully NBC will listen to the guy who made that online fix and go with that look instead. Personnally, I still like the original “Patriot Depends” that Lynda Carter sported.

  29. ejdalise says

    March 22, 2011 at 8:15 pm

Wow . . . that is really bad.

I have not followed this . . . is that the actress that will be playing WW? Seems like a huge miscast if she is.

And aren’t the bracelets supposed to be gold? Again, not a follower of the comic, and not familiar with the mythos; just asking.

  30. Michael Hickerson says

    March 23, 2011 at 4:46 am

@Emilio Are you basing your miscasting judgment on the costume or Adrianne Palicki? If it’s on AP, have you seen in her anything else that makes you say she’s miscast?

I only say this because I’ve watched her on Friday Night Lights (TV show, not the movie) and she was great there. On a show full of great actors, she was one of the real assets of the show. I wish people would actually go and check her out there and see she has the chops to pull of Wonder Woman before they start criticizing the choice.

I believe the show is on Netflix streaming…so that makes it easy to check out.

  31. ejdalise says

    March 23, 2011 at 6:14 am

Hmmm . . . I did not recognize her from the picture. Unusual that, as I’m usually good with faces.

I like the actress well enough, and have seen her in a couple of things.

I guess I should preface my opinions with disclaimers that they are in fact my opinions.

I am basing my statement solely on looks. She does not look like the comic character. For instance, Christopher Reeves looked somewhat like the artistic depiction of Superman (at the time). No one can look like the current artistic depiction of Superman (at least the ones I’ve seen).

Tobey was, in my opinion, miscast as Peter Parker. Both in looks and mannerism. Others might disagree. Dunst was a huge miscast (for me) of Mary Jane. Regardless of her performance, she did not look like Mary Jane.

So, no slam on the actress, but to my untrained eyes Paliki has neither the facial features or build for the character she is supposed to portray. Yes, it could be she will redefine Wonder Woman for us, but there have been films before where no matter the performance, the actor did not match the personage from comic or literature. In my opinion, of course.

Glad to see some people sticking up for AP, not that I think Wonder Woman will be interesting from everything I’ve read so far, but that doesn’t mean AP won’t work her butt off. It’s also interesting to see I wasn’t the only slicer that watched Friday Night Lights 🙂

  33. Harleygirl says

    March 27, 2011 at 3:00 pm

REALLY??? Geez, this looks like the show is going to air after-hours on CineMAX. Cheap and tacky. Everything looks plastic, even her boobs! And yeah, I thought the bracelets were supposed to be gold, too. What are they thinking? I had some hopes for AP because I enjoyed her performance on Friday Night Lights (yes, another slicer liked that show!), but her biggest acting challenge on this show might be looking comfortable in that outfit!

Yeah. Fighting in a bustier? Nah, son. Especially with a rack like that.
And as far as you guys having a problem with the tights?
    Tell ya what.
Go put on a speedo and jump around and do some action-y stuff in THAT and then come back and complain.
    Sheesh.

    BTW.
I know this’ll put some peoples’ panties in a knot, but I don’t care:
    Geena Torres. Wonder Woman.
    Yeah, I said it!
    GEENA frackin’ TORRES
    All day. Every day.

    But I’m *sayin’* GEEEENA

Yay @TallGrrl Gina is my first casting choice for everything. Wonder Woman, Cat Woman, Storm, Honor Harrington, She Hulk. . . James Bond. You name it.

Looks like they’ve already started reworking the costume. Note the boots: http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/OsI4oBNsVWz/Adrianne+Palicki+in+Hollywood/7arw5U5-1kh/Adrianne+Palicki
