See, the thing is, I don’t really like horror stuff, so I don’t know if I’m the best person to ask. It scared the crap outta me and I generally don’t like to be scared. But my wife loved it and now she’s going to drag me into every single episode. Thanks AMC. Why couldn’t you have done a proper space opera for your SF offering?

I wanted to watch it .. but wanted to watch the PBS Mini Series on Sherlock Holmes instead. Will catch this on on-demand (I hope).

Very Good. It is a great zombie series so far, can’t wait to see next weeks episode. Another winner AMC!!!

Not a real fan of horror so didn’t bother with it…..plus, I have been scaling back my DVR que pretty dramatically to those “really must see” shows. I’m down to about 30 now with not much room for more. Yes, I know, if 30 is what i cut down to then what ridiculous number was my que at? It saddens me to say over 100, not counting my Instant-To-TV Netflix, by-mail Netflix, iTunes and other internet video viewing options (Hulu, Amazon, etc.) Yes…….I have no life outside of the electronic media world.

I liked it because it didn’t go the in-your-face horror route. The scare was more psychological than adrenal. For example, I think the most terrifying part was the zombie turning the door handle. To me it showed that she retained something of her living self.

If the series keeps more of this kind of scare, rather than the typical in your face stuff I will keep watching.

I’d have to say it was pretty good, and I do like the fact that they actually show the zombies getting shot. It looks like the put some time and effort into the special effects and make up, which makes it look pretty frackin real. I also have to agree with Tim that I’m glad they didn’t make it in-your-face with a million zombies just for the effect. Also good to see they didn’t make the zombies run, but rather a hurried up walk.

*Spoiler alert* the scene where Morgan has his wife in the crosshairs was great. Makes you wonder if you’d really have the guts to shoot a loved one even if they were turned.
**I also see that there are no D or F votes for this show! Good to see a lot of people liked it.

Not quite sure why someone who didn’t watch the show would comment on it…

Finally a zombie/horror show that is worth my time and attention. I generally have no interest in what passes for horror nowadays (I find the real world scary enough thank you) but this is very well written and is now on my viewing schedule. Finally a zombie movie that gets past EAT BRAINS! and focuses on what do you do when they’re NOT trying to eat your brain. I also appreciate that they don’t pull punches with the violence and gore. (That scene with the guy in the window unable to kill his wife who was now a zombie was a heartbreaker.) Not to mention the horse buffett at the end. And this is almost exactly like the comic! Another rarity. I say watch it once and see what you think.

This kept VERY true to the comic series. The zombies are just the backdrop… it’s about the humanity and the conectivty of relationships that was core to this episode… and was WELL fleshed out. THIS is what I was hoping for as an AVID reader of the source material.

I can see where they veered off the source material in an intelligent and heart-felt and heart-wrenching well. Also, you really got a chance to see what Carl was about… righting injustice.

The zombies themselves were awesome, but the REALLY scary stuff has yet to come. I can’t wait.

Watched it on On-Demand last night … pretty damn good. Will continue to watch. Kudos to AMC for putting this on.

OK you guys! Once again my compadres at SoSF have got me. Because of your recommendations I broke down and watched the replay of the series pilot of this show and, thanks to you, I have one more damn show to try and keep up with in by DVR queue. I was pleasanly surprised at how well Darabont caught the spirit of the graphic novel. So yes, I have added another program to my “must see” TV list. But – did they really have to eat the beautiful horse? Slurping back the intestines of humans is acceptable, but a defenseless pony? 🙂
