“Drawn Together” Movie Headed Our Way

“Drawn Together” Movie Headed Our Way

July 23, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 7 Comments

Comedy Central’s animated parody of reality shows, “Drawn Together” is getting the direct-to-home-theater treatment according to the Hollywood Reporter.

A movie-length version of the popular series will head to DVD in 2010.

“The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie!” was unveiled Wednesday by Lauren Corrao, president, original programming and development, Comedy Central.

The network said that the straight-to-DVD release currently in production will be “the first animated film based on the ‘Drawn Together’ series.” It will be released by Comedy Central Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment in March.

Both are units of entertainment giant Viacom Inc.

“‘Drawn Together’s’ reunion with Comedy Central is like marrying an old ex-girlfriend,” quipped creators, writers and executive producers Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser. “I mean, are we doing this because we love each other and are destined to be together? Or is it because neither one of us could do any better? As is often the case, it’s probably both.”

The announcement came a day before “Drawn Together”‘s panel today at Comic Con.

Well crap. This was supposed to be out in October 2009. 🙁 I’ll own it, though. Oh yes, I will.

I’d rather watch a Uwe Boll remake of Casablanca starring Rob Scheinder with a musical score done by The Jonas Brothers at a movie theatre in the Swat Valley in Pakistan.

The most frightening part of the story is that “it will be the FIRST movie”

Hell yeah! Drawn Together is one of the greatest shows of all time! Can’t wait! Just think, if you thought they did some crazy shit with the TV show, imagine what they can do with a movie!
