Sam Sloan Retirement Announcement

Sam Sloan Retirement Announcement

October 21, 2008 By S. K. Sloan 13 Comments

Effective November 3, 2008 Sam Sloan, Slice of SciFi content producer will be going into retirement. This was not an easy decision but one brought about as a result of recent medical problems. Sam will be undergoing a series of tests over the next few months that will make it difficult for him to continue in his current position full time.

Sam has been with Slice of SciFi since its inception almost four years ago, and the Website and show’s news director and producer of the content used by the hosts of the weekly Slice of SciFi podcast and Satellite radio show.

His formal letter of retirement was received by Michael R. Mennenga on Monday, October 20.

“I want to tell you all how much of a joy it has been for me to have the opportunity, or better still, the pleasure of working with you all,” Sam stated in the letter. “Mike, meeting you and your lovely wife Lorrie was a wonderful experience. My time with Summer has always been a great learning experience that I will always treasure. Brian is just plain fun and you have made me laugh so much. I look forward to hearing you on the show with that rare and superb brand of humor you bring to Slice. Jeffrey and Nina. Even though we have never met in person, the correspondence and conversations we have shared over the last few years were truly a joy and always uplifting. I will miss working with all of you and wish you and FarPoint Media nothing but the best and nothing but growth in audience, popularity and support.”

Sam will remain onboard after Nov. 3 in a limited capacity as a consultant behind the scenes helping to train and mentor his replacement until such time as that person is ready to to fly solo.

Sam also hasn’t forgotten all the fans of Slice of SciFi and the many other supporters of all the shows. He never lost sight of the fact that they were really what the job was all about.

To those fans Sam stated: “Thanks to you all for your sustained love and support over these last few years, it is you, all our readers and listeners, that made this journey an exciting and treasured one for me.”

    Sam,

Thanks so much for your countless hours of hard work for Slice of Scifi. Your tireless commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed, and you will definitely be missed. While I don’t know what kind of medical problems you’re having personally, I totally understand what that’s like, being in that situation myself, so get better!

“undergoing a series of tests” doesn’t sound good. I hope everything turns out OK for you Sam.

Don’t forget to teach your apprentice to spell like you do, we all know how much Summer likes your spelling.

    Long live Slammin’ Sam Sloane!!
